Montasio P.D.O.

Montasio DOP is a typical Friulian cheese subjected to strict procedures, indicated and enforced by the Protection Consortium. It takes its name from the famous Montasio dish, where it has been produced since the 14th century. It is a hard cheese, cooked and produced exclusively with cow's milk, of medium or long maturation and with a cylindrical shape with a straight heel. Typical table cheese with an aromatic and intense taste, also perfect accompanied with dried fruit or pears, and with a young or more structured red wine, such as Merlot and Pinot Noir, or Cabernet Franc and Schioppettino.
